All of my plans today disintegrated because of friends taken ill, but in keeping with my resolution to get out more in 2009, I raced downtown to see a matinee of Revolutionary Road alone.
I should’ve known I wasn’t going to like it — I couldn’t even finish the book.
But I like Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet so I went. And they’re very good, but they’re prisoners to a humorless and heavy-handed script that aims for tragedy and succeeds only in petulance.
I kept wishing I could watch them do Mad Men.
